Repurposing Your Content Across Multiple Platforms: Maximize Your Reach

So, you’ve written a fantastic blog post and published it on your website. Maybe you then share it on your Facebook page. Is that it? All finished?

Not quite!

If you’ve crafted a quality, valuable, and insightful blog that your audience will love, you should maximize that content by sharing it across various online platforms through repurposing and syndication.

What is Repurposing and Syndication?

Spreading Your Message!

Repurposing and syndication involve taking your blog content and spreading that same information across your social media channels and other online platforms.

This isn’t just about sharing the link to your blog post on every social media channel (which you should do too). It’s about taking the information from your blog post and presenting it in various formats on different digital platforms.

For instance, you can break down your blog into smaller pieces of content – such as one bullet point or paragraph – to create “snacks” of content that you can distribute across your channels. This could be in the form of imagery, carousels, videos, reels, and stories with quizzes, polls, and more.

Gary Vaynerchuk’s podcast is a prime example. He rarely records episodes specifically for the podcast. Instead, he strips the audio from interviews, speaking engagements, and other media appearances and uploads these to his podcast. He then creates short video clips from these events for his other social media channels.

The Importance of Tailoring Content

Repurposing content means adapting it to suit each particular platform and audience.

For example, I don’t post on Instagram and have it automatically shared on Facebook. Instead, I create a native Facebook post that’s better suited to that audience and uses fewer hashtags.

Examples of Repurposing and Syndicating Content

Here are some ways to repurpose and syndicate content from a blog post:

  1. Video and Slideshows: Create a short 2-minute slideshow or video that highlights the main points of your blog. Post that video natively on Facebook and YouTube.

  2. Graphics for Instagram: Create eye-catching graphics with individual tips from your blog to post on Instagram over a week. Or, create a carousel with a card for each tip.

  3. Reels: Create a Reel summarizing the top tips from your blog post.

  4. Live Videos: Host a Facebook Live discussing the blog content. Some people prefer video over reading.

  5. Instagram Stories: Share snippets of the blog in a series of Instagram Stories and end with an interactive quiz.

  6. LinkedIn: Write a teaser of your blog within a LinkedIn Pulse article and link to the full article on your website.

  7. Infographics and Tweets: Create an infographic from the blog post and share it on Twitter. Each main point could be an individual tweet.

  8. Newsletters: Summarize the blog content in a newsletter and send it to your email list.

The Benefits of Repurposing Content

  1. Increased Reach: Sharing content on more platforms means more people will see it. Your followers may not follow you on every platform.

  2. Diverse Content Consumption: Different followers prefer different types of content – videos, stories, short-form posts, etc.

  3. Increased Brand Awareness: More exposure helps people get to know your brand.

  4. Traffic and SEO: Drive traffic back to your website/blog and improve search engine rankings with links on multiple platforms.

  5. Authority and Presence: Being present on multiple platforms can help establish you as an authority in your field, making potential customers more familiar and comfortable with your brand.

Feeling Overwhelmed?

Don’t worry – there are many tools available to help repurpose your content. Plan out your content, set up a calendar, and create a system to follow each time you write a blog post.

By repurposing your content, you can maximize its value, reach a wider audience, and establish a stronger presence across multiple platforms. So, don’t stop at just publishing your blog post – spread your message far and wide!
